Transition

It has come to the time of year when weather and nature have started to transition from winter to spring. In this blog I have tried to show some of the changes we see on our lake here in Minnesota.

The first set are my first images in Black and White. When we opened the house and looked outside on a beautiful day in February, everything was coated in a thick coat of hoarfrost. I had to head outside and capture the following two images, I attempted to show what an amazing day it really was. Within ah hour of capturing these images it was gone.

This image is towards the lake

This image shows how thick the covering was that morning

Last Saturday evening as i was looking out the door and watching the ice disappear off of our lake, the second phase of the transition, and I didn't think too much of it. After I sat down and looked again, the whole scene had changed. These reflections suddenly appeared. I just had to capture a couple of these images, which I feel captures the ending of our ice cover.

Directly across the lake from our house.

I turned and noticed the water tower and had to capture this

As my wife and I came home from work tonight we both went out and looked at the new crocus flowers blooming in front of the garage. This I thought would show the last and final Transition, from Winter, to Ice out. to flowers blooming in Spring. The Final awakening.

A nice purple striped one.

I hope you like my discoveries of the transition we see here in Minnesota, Enjoy.

I had an invitation in October of 2008 from a good friend of mine, Roger Nordstrom to go up to the North Shore of Minnesota to do my first ever Photo Shoot. As I quickly found out trying to capture nature is not as easy as it seems. These are the first shots of the 4 days we spent capturing the beauty of the North Shore. Please bear with me and enjoy my first days adventure. In the following days and weeks i will be posting more photo's from this shoot and other photos from later journeys.

Last Week and Last Weekend

Ever since I was a young Photographer I have been drawn to flowers, sunsets, animals and birds of all kinds, especially landscapes that show nature. Last weekend, especially Sunday evening was so beautiful, I had to get out and capture some more images. I hope you all enjoy.

Pictures from Sunday

Yesterday was so nice, I decided to start taking some weekend pictures and posting them on here, so this is a beginning.
Most of the images are from flowers in my Wife's flowerbeds, the Iris and Grass is from our beach, and the sunset is a quick shot to see how it would turn out.
I hope this is a good begining.

October 02, 2008

I was invited to go up to the North Shore of Minnesota for my first ever PhotoShoot by a good friend of mine Roger Nordstrom. Roger has been a friend of mine for the last 6 years and is a fine photographer in his own right. Roger has known about my interest in photography and thought it would be fun for me to take on this adventure. The Weekend was perfect and I had an opportunity to stretch my creativity, and make the difficult change from 'taking picures' to 'Making Photos'. I have included one of my first photos from this weekend, this is 'Hollow Rock' found on the Grand Portage Indian Reservation.
